PATTAYA, Thailand On June 19, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Banglamung district officials conducted two arrests on drug-related activities, arresting two siblings, dubbed Auntie Fat and Red, for allegedly selling illegal drugs to residents of an apartment complex and work camp in Pattaya.

Led by District Chief Patcharapat Sritanyanon, the operation involved Wanchai Wannaphrom, head of the Bang Lamung Administrative Office, Kamphrai Laosaen, an administrative officer, and members of the Banglamung Territorial Defense Volunteers. Acting on complaints from locals about drug use and distribution, the team raided a workers camp in Soi Khao Noi.

Upon arrival, authorities encountered over ten workers, both Thai and foreign nationals, gathered outside the camp. A search and drug test revealed three individuals with traces of narcotics in their systems. Questioning led to confessions that they had purchased drugs from Auntie Fat, a 66-year-old woman who managed an apartment complex in Soi Khao Noi in Central Pattaya.

Officials devised a sting operation, sending an undercover agent to purchase 500 baht worth of crystal methamphetamine (locally known as ice) from Ms. Wongsawarin, aka Auntie Fat. Upon receiving the signal, authorities moved in, apprehending her while she was seated outside her room. A search uncovered the 500-baht marked money, nine plastic bags containing 1.12 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and two methamphetamine pills hidden in a plastic container, neatly organized for sale.

Further investigation led to the search of nearby rooms, where officials arrested Ms. Wongsawarins 64-year-old brother, Mr. Thawisak, known as Red, and his wife. A search of their room uncovered three plastic bags containing 0.53 grams of crystal methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia including glass pipes, bongs, plastic bags, a digital scale, lighters, and traces of narcotics in zip-lock bags. Nine additional individuals in the building tested positive for drug use, with more drug paraphernalia found in their rooms.

The siblings were handed over to investigators and charged with possession and distribution of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine and crystal methamphetamine). Those found with drugs in their systems were documented and sent for rehabilitation. Authorities vowed to continue their efforts to curb drug trafficking in the area, with further legal action pending against the suspects.
